VIRAL: Endangered dolphin, peacocks die after being picked up for 'selfies'
MANILA, Philippines - Once again, the human race has failed to show humanity.
Last week, a baby dolphin and two peacocks were killed when tourists reportedly passed them around for selfies.
While the incidents occurred separately, the cause of death is the same - people's ignorance and extreme narcissism.
According to reports, two peacocks in a Chinese zoo died on February 12, after they were roughly handled by tourists for selfies. A spokesperson for the zoo reportedly told the Huaxi Metropolis Daily that the poor peacocks died of shock or fright.
As many of us do not know, peacocks can suffer heart attacks if exposed to large shocks. Images of the abhorrent incident emerged on Weibo, China's microblogging site.

A baby dolphin was killed for the same reason. Reports say one of the tourists staying at one of the resorts in Argentina picked up two Franciscana dolphins - one of the smallest and rarest dolphins in the world - from the water to take photos. Other tourists then joined them to have their own share of photo.
The other dolphin died of dehydration due to being out of the water for long. It was mentioned in reports that the dolphin was still being passed around by beachgoers after it already died and it was later left abandoned in the sand.
The animal cruelty shown has sparked outrage worldwide, causing people to question whether being inhumane is becoming a disturbing trend.
