MANILA, Philippines — The Republic of the Philippines and the People's Republic of China signed various agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) during President Rodrigo Duterte's four-day state visit to Beijing from October 18 to 21.

Both the Philippines and China expressed interest in finalizing agreements and MOUs in areas such as education, finance, custom and sports.

"Both sides affirm the importance of existing Philippines-China bilateral dialogue mechanisms in enhancing understanding, broadening cooperation and striving for a stronger relationship," the two countries said in a joint statement released last week.

The two countries also agreed to resume Foreign Ministry Consultations, Consular Consultations, Joint Commission on Economic and Trade Cooperation, Annual Defense Security Talks, Joint Committee on Agriculture, Joint Committee on Science and Technology and other bilateral dialogue mechanisms.
