Apas creates own command center

CEBU, Philippines - Barangay Apas in Cebu City has opened its own command center, which will house a centralized monitoring system aimed at maintaining peace and order in the barangay.

The monitoring system, which is connected to closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras across the barangay, would also allow officials to respond to emergencies quickly.

The command center is courtesy of Cloyd Dedicatoria, managing director of 7Core Communications, Inc. and an alumnus of the Camp Lapu-Lapu Elementary School located in Barangay Apas.

Apas Barangay Captain Ramil Ayuman said barangay personnel will be made to undergo training on managing the CCTV system. Ayuman said the security cameras will function 24/7.

The command center is located at the Barangay Hall.

Last year, Dedicatoria also installed 8 CCTV cameras at his alma mater. It became the first public school in the city to be installed with security cameras.

This year, eight were installed at Apas National High School to help monitor the daily activities of both students and teachers. — (FREEMAN)
