February 25 a special holiday for schools
MANILA, Philippines - Only classes in schools will be suspended for the 28th anniversary of the People Power Revolution on February 25.
Work in government and private offices are not covered by the suspension order by the Palace.
Many of those who remember the People Power Revolution in 1986 that led to the ouster of former President Ferdinand Marcos, wear yellow, the official color of the anti-Marcos LABAN party of the late President Corazon Aquino.
President Benigno Aquino III, meanwhile, will head to Cebu to celebrate the event with communities devastated by super typhoon Yolanda.
"The President said it was important to rally people in areas affected by calamities in order to rekindle the spirit of EDSA People Power in rebuilding better communities. Hence the original plan to hold the event in Malacañang was shelved," Herminio Coloma, Jr., the presidential communications chief, said.
