Boat catches fire off Davao Occidental

MANILA, Philippines — Two fishermen were rescued after their boat caught fire in the waters off Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental. 

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)’s substation in Jose Abad Santos said a resident informed them on April 18 that F/B D-Krisvyn caught fire near the coast of Barangay Salabayon. 

Responding PCG personnel on board Aluminum Boat 233 helped the fishermen put out the fire and towed the boat to Barangay Balangonan.

The fishermen told the PCG that they were headed to Barangay Balangonan from Balut Island when their boat developed engine trouble and caught fire. 

The fishermen underwent medical check-up. Both were found to be in good condition.
