300 narco cops undergo drug testing
MANILA, Philippines — At least 300 anti-drug operatives of the Manila Police District (MPD) underwent a surprise drug testing on Friday.
MPD director Chief Superintendent Rolando Anduyan said the move was part of the internal cleansing of 11 police stations under his turf.
The operatives gathered at the MPD multi-purpose hall prior to the drug testing.
Members of the MPD personnel and human resource development division and scene of the crime operatives headed by Chief Inspector Jesille Cui Baluyot conducted the drug tests.
No policeman tested positive for drugs, officials said.
Anduyan said those who were absent or on leave would undergo drug testing today.
No break in drug war: 28 nabbed
Meanwhile, police conducted anti-narcotics operations, resulting in the arrest of 28 persons in Metro Manila despite heavy rains over the weekend.
Twelve of the suspects were apprehended in Quezon City, six in Pasay, four each in Pasig and Manila, and two in San Juan.
Authorities confiscated P65,000 worth of shabu during a sting in Pasay.
