2 Pangasinan hospital workers kidnapped
DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines — Men wearing ski masks took two workers of the Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) along A.B. Fernandez East road in this city last week, the hospital director confirmed yesterday.
R1MC director Roland Joseph Mejia said they are clueless on why nursing attendants John Mark Poyaoan and Rizaldy Decano, both residents of Barangay Lucao, were kidnapped.
“Our health workers are demoralized,” Mejia said. “We hope to know the truth and find out why this was done to them.”
He said the victims have no criminal record or enemies.
Superintendent Jandale Sulit, city police chief, said the victims were riding a motorcycle when gunmen in a Starex van (CSX-312) blocked their path and forced them into the van.
Gerald Gubatan, R1MC legal counsel, said the Philippine National Police, National Bureau of Investigation and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group are helping resolve the incident.
Decano’s wife Jenny appealed to the kidnappers to release the victims. She said the kidnappers have not contacted them.
“Please, have mercy on them, have mercy on us…They are not bad people,” she said.
