Camarines Sur town robbed of workers’ bonus

Celso Amo - The Philippine Star

LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines — An employee of the municipal government of Tinambac town in Camarines Sur carted away on Tuesday P3.4 million in cash intended for their midyear bonus.

Municipal treasurer Ma. Teresa Hermogenio-Betito, 55, reportedly handed the money to Melchor Abrazado and asked him to call their driver after withdrawing it from the Land Bank of the Philippines at about 10 a.m.

Abrazado immediately went out of the bank, but was nowhere to be found when Betito and two other municipal employees came out.

A manhunt for Abrazado is underway.
