‘Salome’ wrecks 13 boats in Albay

TABACO CITY, Philippines (Bicol Standard) – At least 13 boats were reportedly destroyed in Barangay San Roque in Tabaco City, Albay due to the rough seas brought about by Tropical Storm Salome earlier Friday.

Among the boats identified were Shepherd, Marjorie, Penafrancia, Salvar, St. Joseph and Jayvan, according to San Roque resident Kev Andres.

No one was hurt in the incident.

The amount of damages is yet to be determined.

Albay was among the areas placed under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1 by PAGASA.

In its 5 a.m. severe weather bulletin, the storm was spotted 55 kilometers southwest of Subic, Zambales and had maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 100 kph. "Salome" is moving west northwest at 20 kph.

It is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday morning.
