Comelec eyes 600,000 new overseas voters
MANILA, Philippines - Over 600,000 Filipinos abroad are expected to register and participate in the 2019 midterm elections, an official said yesterday.
Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner Arthur Lim said the poll body expects to exceed the two million registered overseas Filipino voters with the listing of 600,000 new voters.
Lim said they recorded 1,376,067 overseas voters in the last elections. Of that number, 1,326,728 were land-based and 49,339 sea-based.
Lim expressed hope that the would meet their target.
The registration of overseas voters is from Dec. 1 to Sept. 30, 2018.
