Police bares details of Davao blast suspect

DAVAO CITY, Philippines — The Philippine National Police on Wednesday released a cartographic sketch of the male suspect on the Roxas Night Market blast which killed 14 and injured 70.

At a press conference in Police Regional Office (PRO) 11's Camp Quintin Merecido, authorities said the witnesses described the male suspect as thin, looks 5'7" tall, and should be around 30 years old.

PRO 11 spokesperson Chief Inspector Andrea dela Cerna in an interview said that the male and two other female who were acting suspicious before the blast were still considered as persons of interest.

The police investigates on eight CCTV footages and coordinates with the eight witnesses of the blast.

On Tuesday, police confirmed that the improvised explosive device (IED) used in Friday's night market blast was made out of two mortar ammunitions.

Police Regional Director Senior Superintendent Manuel Gaerlan said the IED was made of a 60 millimeters and an 81 millimeters, which were intended to really harm and inflict maximum casualties.

"Lumabas ito through reconstructions of the metal fragments recovered from the bodies of the victims and from the blast site. The device was cellphone-activated," Gaerlan told the media.

The authorities have also recovered one sim pack holder and a micro memory SD card. Further investigations with the help of witnesses are still ongoing.

They are hunting down two women and two men including the one whose cartographic sketch was released.

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has also previously announced she would give P2-million bounty for anyone who could present information on the identities and whereabouts of the suspects.
