Solon's son killed in Ilocos Norte road mishap
MANILA, Philippines — A son of an Ilocos Norte lawmaker was killed Sunday in a motorcycle accident on a national road in the province, authorities said.
Bacarra police chief Senior Inspector Jepphrey Taccad said Rodolfo Fariñas Jr., the youngest son of Ilocos Norte Rep. Rodolfo "Rudy" Fariñas, was killed when he lost control of the vehicle in Pasiocan village in Bacarra.
Police said the victim was driving his BMW motorcycle around 5:43 a.m. when it smashed into a concrete barrier, killing him shortly afterwards.
The younger Fariñas was immediately taken to the provincial hospital in Laoag City where he was declared dead.
Reports said authorities are still conducting an investigation into the incident.
The younger Fariñas, 20, was a former Ilocos Norte Sangguniang Kabataan president.
