Filipinos rant about 'traffic Armageddon' on People Power anniversary

Patricia Lourdes Viray - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Several commuters and motorists expressed their frustration on the traffic situation in EDSA due to the 29th anniversary celebration of the People Power Revolution on Wednesday.

The Metro Manila Development Authority earlier released an advisory that the EDSA north bound lane from Shaw Boulevard to Santolan would be closed from 12:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on February 25.

A tweet from the MMDA stated that the north bound lane from Shaw Blvd. to Santolan was opened at around 3:39 p.m. but traffic was still heavy due to protests staged in the area.

Netizens labeled the traffic situation as a "traffic Armageddon" and a recreation of the sea of people during the People Power revolution in 1986.
