Dennis Carcamo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Anti-narcotics agents arrested a former policeman and his companion in a drug raid in Bukidnon, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) reported on Friday.

PDEA director general Arturo Cacdac Jr. identified the suspects as former Police Officer 1 Austerio Pamisa of the Bukidnon Provincial Police Office, 40, of Purok 2, Poblacion, Valencia City, Bukidnon; and Raul Preglo, 40, a resident of Barangay Lumbo in the same city.

Records showed that Pamisa was dismissed from the service due to absence without leave (AWOL) in 1999.

Cacdac said operatives of PDEA Regional Office 10 arrested Pamisa and Preglo during a raid at the former policeman's residence last June 24.

Recovered from Pamisa were a violet plastic containing suspected shabu, 13 pieces medium of plastic sachets suspected to be shabu, five aluminum foil strips and an improvised aluminum tooter.

Confiscated from Preglo were one caliber .45 pistol with one magazine and seven pieces of live ammunition.

The seized drugs were brought to the PDEA's regional laboratory for forensic examination.

Pamisa and Preglo are now temporarily detained at the PDEA detention cell.

Pamisa will be charged for violation of Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Section 12 (Possession of Equipment and Other Drug Paraphernalia), and Section 15 (Use of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165 or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

A separate case for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) will be filed against Preglo.
