Habagat weakens but rainy Monday in Northern Luzon, Mindanao
MANILA, Philippines — Rain is expected over Northern Luzon and Southern Mindanao due to two weather systems affecting the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Monday.
In an advisory issued before noon, PAGASA said the effect of the "Habagat" or southwest monsoon has weakened but it is still expected to bring occasional light to moderate rains over Batanes, Calayan and Babuyan group of Islands.
The weather bureau also advised small fishing vessels not to venture out into the northern seaboard of northern Luzon.
PAGASA said in its daily weather forecast that an Intertropical Convergence Zone is also affecting Southern Mindanao.
Mindanao will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms while Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
Moderate to strong winds coming from the southwest will prevail over Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough.
Light to moderate winds coming from the southwest to south will prevail over the rest of the country with slight to moderate seas. - Louis Bacani
