Grammy audience down, still 2nd highest since 1993
NEW YORK (AP) — It's back down to earth for the Grammy Awards in the television ratings.
The Nielsen company said Monday that music's annual awards show was seen by 28.1 million people on CBS on Sunday night. That's the second-largest audience for the program since 1993.
It was way down from last year, when just under 40 million people tuned in during extraordinary circumstances. The 2012 show came just after the death of Whitney Houston and also proved to be the coronation for Adele, who won six Grammys.
Back in 2006 and 2008 there was far less interest. The Grammys got around 17 million viewers each year.
