LRT extends operating hours
MANILA, Philippines — The Presidential Communications Office on Friday announced that the Light Rail Transit (LRT) lines will extend their operating hours for late-night commuters.
Operating hours for LRT-1 have been extended from 9:30 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. while the LRT-2 operating hours have been extended from 10 p.m. to 10:15 p.m.

The government will also provide chairs and free WiFi for passengers while waiting for the trains.
The LRT-1 runs from Baclaran in Pasay City to Roosevelt in Quezon City and carries an average of 400,000 passengers per day.
Meanwhile, the LRT-2 runs from Santolan in Pasig City to Recto in Manila and has a design capacity of up to 240,000 passengers daily.
In his first State of the Nation Address last Monday, President Rodrigo Duterte said that he wants to extend the operating hours of the LRT from 9:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. to accommodate students who go home late. — Patricia Lourdes Viray
