Manila offers free civil registry services
MANILA, Philippines - The city government of Manila is set to launch tomorrow “Operation Birth Right,” an outreach program that will provide free civil registry services to residents.
“This is very alarming. Tens of thousands of children in Manila have no birth certificates or if they have, they were fakes,” Mayor Joseph Estrada said.
The first of a series of Operation Birth Right outreach missions will be held at Barangay 120 in Parola Compound, Tondo tomorrow.
Joey Cabreza of the Civil Registry Office said they expect to issue 3,000 to 4,000 birth certificates in one day.
