Violent Uber driver fined P.2 M
MANILA, Philippines - The Uber driver who threatened his passenger, a flight attendant, with a metal pipe was fined P200,000 by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Thursday for operating an unregistered vehicle.
Nicolo Lizaso, who has yet to pay the fine, violated the joint administrative order of the LTFRB and the Land Transportation Office (LTO), LTFRB chairman Winston Ginez said.
The LTFRB also dismissed and denied Lizaso’s application for franchise to operate as transport network vehicle (TNV) and his provisional authority he filed on Nov. 4, 2015.
Ginez also said that they have recommended to the LTO to suspend Lizaso’s driver’s license and to revoke his registration for the unit (YP-7587).
In a social media post, Christine Fulgencio accused Lizaso of cursing at her and threatening to hit her with a metal pipe after she failed to put her exact location when she hired him.
She said Lizaso fled when a security guard of a village in Pasig City saw him threaten her.
Lizaso told the LTRFB that his actions came after his passengers humiliated him.
Uber suspended Lizaso’s account upon learning of the formal complaint to prevent him from accepting passengers using the Uber application.
The LTFRB and LTO have directed traffic enforcers to impound Lizaso’s car if it is found to be operating as a transport service vehicle.
