LIST: Nadine Lustre gives 5 beauty hacks

MANILA, Philippines — Singer-actress Nadine Lustre gave beauty tips in time for the release of the new shades of her best-selling Lustrous makeup line on Tuesday.

In a live video posted on online store Beauty Beat’s Facebook page, Nadine swatched the new shades of her lipstick line, named Libra, Virgo and Leo.

A fan asked Nadine what lipstick shade she could associate her boyfriend James Reid with, to which she said, Taurus, which is also James’ zodiac sign. The Taurus shade, however, is yet to be revealed on Nadine’s birth month, October.

In the video, Nadine shared at least five beauty hacks.

1. Go for matte over glossy or creamy lipsticks.

Nadine confessed that glossy, creamy and moisturizing lipsticks tend to go off easily on her.

“Matte lipstick stays on my lips for a long time. When I go out, I’m always eating and drinking, so matte lipsticks are a life-saver. You don’t have to retouch all the time,” she enthused.

2. Red lipstick dresses you up.

According to Nadine, with red lipstick, you do not have to wear thick eye makeup.

Dark lips, she said, are her go-to makeup together with mascara, eyebrows and blush on.

3. When your makeup gets smashed, you do not have to buy something new.

If you accidentally dropped your powder or eyeshadow, Nadine said just mix some alcohol with your makeup, let it dry, and it can be reused again.

4. When doing makeup in the car, put on lip color first.

Doing makeup in the car “is actually very hard because you’re moving,” Nadine admitted. 

Hence, her suggestion is to pick a lip liner first because “that’s easier to put into your lips” and then mix it your lipstick.

When in the car, she goes for a liquid lipstick as it has a smaller brush that makes it easier to apply.

5. Drink a lot of water and have proper sleep.

Nadine admitted that she used to suffer from breakouts. But ever since she began drinking a lot of water (in fact, she has carrying a big tumbler anywhere with her), she now has glowing skin.

Besides drinking at least eight glasses of water in a day, she makes sure to try to get as much sleep as she can to help her cells regenerate.

Sometimes, when she finds it hard to sleep because she is an “over thinker,” she drinks melatonin to help her sleep better.

But the best beauty advice she could give, she said, is to stay positive.

“Well, honey, everyone’s beautiful,” she told a fan asking how Nadine realized she is beautiful.

“Mindset lang ‘yan. You just have to think that you are kasi if you feel beautiful and confident, you can do anything.”

She professed that she went through identity crisis when she was younger, which she eventually overcame by simply being herself.

“Just do you. Don’t try to be anyone else,” she maintained.
