DAVAO CITY, Philippines — It used to be just President Duterte who people would ask to have selfies with.

But lately, Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go has found himself sought after for selfies, particularly during the Gilas Pilipinas vs. Japan FIBA qualifying basketball game last Sunday night at the Mall of Asia Arena in Parañaque City.

Go has been known for his penchant for taking selfies with world leaders whenever the President attends international meetings.

But it has taken a different turn these days – now people want to have selfies with him anywhere he goes.

“It really humbles me. I am overwhelmed by the crowd, by the people wanting to have selfie with me,” Go told The STAR.

The people at MOA who watched the Gilas Pilipinas vs. Japan game took the opportunity to have selfies with Go, who obliged almost all of their requests.

A video of the happening at the MOA Arena –showing Go practically mobbed for selfies – went viral yesterday.

Actually, Go sneaked out of Davao City last Sunday to watch the Gilas Pilipinas-Japan game and quietly returned home, taking the first flight back before dawn yesterday.

Crowds also milled around Go last Saturday night at the SMX Convention Center here where the President attended the convention of Petron gas dealers.

Go likewise said he is humbled by the overwhelming support he got from people from all walks of life, all across the country, especially when he testified before the Senate hearing to deny reports he intervened in the P15.5-billion frigate deal.
