'Vinta' leaves PAR
MANILA, Philippines — "Vinta" (international name: Tembin) has exited the Philippine area of responsibility on Sunday morning after intensifying into a typhoon.
In its 10:30 a.m. severe weather bulletin, PAGASA said "Vinta" was last located at 290 km south of Pagasa Island, Palawan, outside PAR.
"Vinta" packs maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 145 kph.
The state weather bureau said moderate to occasionally heavy rains would still prevail over Palawan, especially over its southern section. "Vinta" made landfall in Balabac, Palawan on Saturday evening.
PAGASA said sea travel remains risky over the western seaboard of Palawan.
It also warned residents against possible flooding and landslides.
"Vinta" was forecast to move west at 25 kph.
All tropical cyclone warning signals were lifted. — Rosette Adel
