SWS: Top gov’t institutions maintain ‘good’ rating

MANILA, Philippines — The latest survey of the Social Weather Stations released on Wednesday revealed that top government institutions still earned "good" net satisfaction ratings.

The third quarter 2017 SWS survey covered the net satisfaction ratings of Filipinos with the Senate, House of Representatives, Supreme Court and the Cabinet.

The survey found that 62 percent of Filipinos were satisfied with the performance of the Senate while 17 percent were dissatisfied with its performance.

Senate obtained +46 net satisfaction rating in September 2017 which is only three points below its rating on June 27. The rating is considered "good."

About 52 percent Filipinos, on the other hand, were satisfied with the House of Representatives while only 18 were dissatisfied with its performance.

The House of Representatives also got a "good" rating with its +34 in September 2017 unchanged from its rating last quarter.

For the SC, 5 percent were satisfied with its performance while 19 percent were recorded to be dissatisfied.

The SC’s net satisfaction rating is still "good" at +31 but has declined by seven points from its +38 rating last June.

Lastly, 49 percent of respondents said they were satisfied with the Cabinet’s performance. On the other hand, 17 percent were dissatisfied.

Like all the other government institutions, Duterte’s Cabinet also earned a "good" rating of +32 just two points below its June 2017 rating. The Cabinet also obtained a similar rating last March.

Here is a comparison of the net satisfaction ratings of the top government institutions under the administrations of Fidel Ramos, Joseph Ejercito Estrada, Benigno Aquino III and Rodrigo Duterte.

The past two presidents were chosen as they were the only leaders who began their terms in the same month as Duterte did. Other presidents since 1988 did not start their term in June.

The SWS survey was conducted from September 23 to 27 using face-to-face interviews of 1,500 adults nationwide with 600 in Balance Luzon and 300 each in Metro Manila, Visayas, and Mindanao.

It has sampling error margins of ± 2.5 percent for national percentages, ±4 percent for Balance Luzon and ±6 percent each for Metro Manila, Visayas and Mindanao.

Palace welcomes 'good' rating

Malacañang welcomed the "good" rating of Duterte's Cabinet and vowed to continue working hard for the Filipinos.

"This is the third consecutive 'good' assessment given by our people to the president’s official family," presidential spokesperson Abella said.

"We assure our people that the members of the PRRD’s Cabinet continue to work hard to bring comfortable life to all Filipinos, mindful of the president’s words that they have to serve the country with competence, efficiency, integrity and compassion. Cabinet members were committed to bring the administration closer to the people with more efficient delivery of government services. The Filipino people deserve no less," it added.
