P16-M illegal cigarettes seized in Davao raids

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group seized P16 million worth of alleged illegal cigarettes following simultaneous raids here on Friday.
The raids were based on 48 warrants issued by Judge Retrina Fuentes of the Regional Trial Court Branch 10 in this city.
Raided were the HBTT Marketing, JS Garcia Agri Ventures, Davao 818 Agri Products and two houses on Mabonga street, San Pedro Village, and Danao street Rivera Village.
The commercial establishments and the houses were reportedly owned by Yu Que Shin, who was arrested for violation of the Intellectual Property Law.
The raiding team also arrested Yu’s father and three other Chinese.
Police said the suspect, whose store in Davao City was also raided last year, has been counterfeiting goods.
