‘Emong’ to intensify into tropical storm
MANILA, Philippines —Tropical Depression “Emong”, with international name “Nanmadol”, is expected to intensify into a tropical storm on Sunday, according to the state weather bureau.
In its 11 a.m. severe weather bulletin, PAGASA said Emong, which has intensified over the Philippine Sea as it continued to move in a northwest direction, is expected to develop into a tropical storm within the next six hours.
At 10 a.m., Emong’s center was last estimated based on all available data at 520 kilometers East of Basco, Batanes. It carries maximum winds of up to 60 kilometer per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 75 kph.
PAGASA added that Emong can bring moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall within its 450-km diameter.
Even if it is expected to intensity into tropical tropical storm, PAGASA said there is no tropical cyclone warning signal raised.
Emong is forecasted to move northwest at 30 kph. It is also expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Monday or Tuesday.
PAGASA asked the public to take appropriate actions amid the tropical depression and keep updated on weather bulletins.
