Landslide victims prefer lot only for relocation
Genevieve Alcoseba, head of the Division for the Welfare of Urban Poor, said the residents do not want house and lot unless the monthly amortization is below P500.
“Ang stand sa mga tawo is gusto lang sila mo-avail og lote nga mahimo nilang relocation dili lang sila mo opt sa house and lot kay dili kaya base sa ilang capacity to pay ba,” Alcoseba said.
Alcoseba said the affected residents told her that they will avail of a socialized housing as relocation provided that the city government can make arrangement with the National Housing Authority that the monthly amortization would not be higher than P500.
She said the city government is currently doing an inventory of all its property that can be used as relocation site.
DWUP conducted a consultation with the affected residents pursuant to the request of the City Council. The NHA has set aside P24 million to finance the construction of the relocation site for the affected families.
The record shows there were 65 families affected by the landslides in Sirao and at least 11 in Adlaon. (FREEMAN)
