Kids playing with lighter caused Kalunasan fire
CEBU, Philippines - A residential unit caught fire in Sitio OPRRA, Barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City yesterday morning, reportedly caused by children playing with a lighter inside the house.
Senior Fire Officer 2 Leo Magallon of Cebu City Fire Department said the fire started around 8:40 a.m. in the house owned by Catherine Sasam, which was occupied by her son Yogi Sasam.
The fire started after two children identified as Peter John and Robert Sasam, both aged 4 years old, reportedly played with a lighter in the house.
Fire investigators have yet to determine the specific spot in the house the children had been playing in with lighter.
Magallon said nearby residents saw the fire starting to grow and alerted the house owners and called the fire station.
Magallon and his team responded to the call and were able to control the fire quickly.
“Pagtawag, narespondehan ra man. Na-control ra ang kayo after one minute,” he said.
No one was hurt during the incident. (FREEMAN)
