SM City Pampanga’s biggest Lantern of Hope unveiled
MANILA, Philippines - Pampanga, known as the Christmas Capital of the Philippines, is the birthplace of the parol, giant lanterns that light up the holiday. The largest incarnations of the parol, these dazzling handcrafted Christmas lanterns symbolize the Star of Bethlehem.
Each lantern stands about 20 feet and features more than 5,000 lights. They are a sight to behold, with each parol displaying a kaleidoscope of light, music and color.
The latest attraction in the Christmas Capital of the Philippines is SM City Pampanga’s Biggest Lantern of Hope in which the Pampanga Eye, the biggest and tallest ferris wheel in the Philippines, transforms into a gigantic parol, lighting up the night sky in a big way.
The 65-meter (213 feet) tall Pampanga Eye sparkles with 12,232 dancing LED lights as well as on-ground and aerial fireworks. Last Dec. 2, park guests enjoyed a spectacular 10-minute pyrotechnic musical show, as well as joyous performances of local bands.
Kids of all ages can also enjoy a glittering holiday parade with Nickelodeon characters on all Sundays of December as they spread joy and cheer around the longest mall in the Philippines. Likewise, park goers can have a photo opportunity with all the Nickelodeon characters as they stroll around the Sky Ranch every Sunday for the whole month of December.
The Sky Ranch at SM City Pampanga is the first amusement park in North Luzon, bringing great family fun with exhilarating rides and exciting games where park guests can bring home stuffed toys and other prizes. The park is open to the public from noon to midnight on weekends and 3 p.m. to midnight on weekdays.
The biggest Lantern of Hope, with support from the Department of Tourism, is one of the many exciting holiday attractions of SM City Pampanga.
