Carnival bomb plot foiled

NORTH COTABATO, Philippines – Authorities foiled an attempt to bomb a carnival along the road in Midsayap town on Saturday.

Bomb disposal experts defused the explosive fashioned from a live fragmentation rigged with a contraption designed to set off when touched.

Superintendent Jerson Birrey of the Midsayap police said carnival goers who found the bomb reported the incident to the police.

“Due to their vigilance, authorities had prevented what could have been another bloody incident in Midsayap,” Birrey said.
