Pia Wurtzbach stamps out this month

Evelyn Macairan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – A special glittery stamp featuring Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach will be released this month, the Philippine Postal Corp. (PHLPost) said yesterday.

Elenita San Diego, PHLPost philatelic service director, said the Pia Wurtzbach souvenir sheet would be embellished with glitter.

“The request is for the Pia Wurtzbach stamp to have a tactile glittery finish. The glitters would be limited to her crown, so when you touch that part you would feel the rough texture,” San Diego told The STAR.

She said they are also planning to have the souvenir stamp embossed, adding they created a glitter of diamond design for the background.

For this special stamp, PHLPost will use the official photo provided by the Miss Universe organization through the Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc.

The photograph was taken after Pia was crowned Miss Universe during the beauty pageant.

The post office will issue 101,000 pieces of the stamps worth P15 apiece, and 5,000 pieces of souvenir sheets worth P40 each. It will issue two official first day cover designs, which will be sold for P26 and P54 each.

Assistant postmaster general Luis Carlos said by issuing the Pia Wurtzbach stamp, PHLPost “gives honor to another Filipina who brought honor to the country.”
