Low-pressure area to bring rains over Palawan

Ghio Ong, Helen Flores - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Except for Palawan and extreme Northern Luzon, most parts of the country will have fair weather in the next two to three days, the state weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said a trough of a low-pressure area (LPA) is expected to bring cloudy skies with light to moderate rains over Palawan.

Meanwhile, Batanes, Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon.

PAGASA said the LPA has a slim chance of entering the Philippine area of responsibility and is unlikely to intensify into a tropical cyclone.

One to two tropical cyclones are expected to enter the Philippines this month.

The rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will be sunny to partly cloudy with possible isolated rains due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA also warned the public against rough to very rough sea condition in the northern seaboard of Northern Luzon due the northeast monsoon. “Fishing boats and other small sea craft are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.”

PAGASA said the rest of the country would have slight to moderate seas.
