Bongbong: Aquino should move on

Patricia Lourdes Viray - Philstar.com

MANILA, Philippines — Vice presidential aspirant Sen. Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos on Tuesday admitted that he wants President Benigno Aquino III to "move on" from the martial law years.

In an interview with ABS-CBN's Bandila, Marcos was asked if he thinks that Aquino should move on and he answered, "Yes."

The president earlier said that the Marcos family should apologize for the atrocities and abuses committed against Filipinos under martial rule.

He answered "maybe" when asked if he believes that his family has been vindicated by the Filipino people, citing that they have been voted to public office.

The senator, however, noted that there is no need for him to apologize.

The senator added that he sees his vice presidential bid an opportunity to continue his family's service to Filipinos.

Marcos said.

Marcos further explained that there is no need for his family to apologize since it was not the policy of his late father's administration to hurt anyone.

The senator said the biggest mistake of his father was trusting the wrong people.

"Ang kasaysayan ay nandyan na. Hindi natin puwedeng palitan kaya't hindi mo maitutuwid ang baluktot, hindi mo maibabaluktot ang tuwid so pabayaan natin ang kasaysayan ang maghusga sa kanya," Marcos said.
