MANILA, Philippines —  Authorities closed off EDSA, a major thoroughfare connecting cities of Metro Manila, on Wednesday as the country celebrated the anniversary of the People Power Revolution held there 29 years ago.

Traffic was grinding in the wee hours of the morning as motorists tried to find alternate routes to reach their destinations. While grumbling about traffic, commuters enjoy the freedom obtained by those courageous enough to stand against the Marcos dictatorship in the 1986 uprising.
