PNP hiring 7,400 civilian employees
MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine National Police (PNP) is hiring 7,400 civilian employees to replace policemen who will be deployed on the streets to increase police visibility and boost anti-crime efforts.
Chief Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac, PNP-Public Information Office director, said interested applicants should have civil service eligibility and could apply in any of the PNP regional, provincial, city and municipal offices.
“IT (information technology) and communication electronics (graduates) have the edge to help in radio operations and as crime statistics registrars,“ he said during a press briefing.
“There will be equitable distribution of NUPs (non-uniformed personnel) in the police regional offices, two IT and a communication electronics per municipality or city.â€
On the recommendation of Interior Secretary Mar Roxas and PNP chief Director General Alan Purisima, President Aquino approved the hiring of civilian employees who will be given administrative work.
Sindac said the PNP started the hiring of civilian employees after the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) approved the PNP proposal in December.
He said the PNP has recommended the hiring of 15,000 civilian employees and the DBM appropriated an initial budget for 7,400.
He said the first batch of non-uniformed personnel would be detailed to police regional offices and a second batch will be deployed to the national operational support units and national administrative support offices.
