COA auditing typhoon aid

Michael Punongbayan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Commission on Audit (COA) is already auditing all the monies and other donations for the victims of Super Typhoon Yolanda to ensure that these are being used properly and efficiently.

Even foreign aid in cash and in kind will be audited by a special team of auditors formed to watch over spending in disaster relief operations.

She also noted donations from abroad that are reported to be coming in are actually mostly pledges or donations in kind that are being given equivalent dollar value. The public should not think that all the donations from other countries are in cash, but regardless of whether it is money or goods, the COA “will account for them.”
