Undocumented OFW found dead in Jeddah

MANILA, Philippines - An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who was among the undocumented Filipinos camping out near the Philippine Consulate in Jeddah was found dead.

Sources told The STAR yesterday the 60-year-old water tank operator had a chronic illness but exhaustion may have worsened his condition.

The OFW was found inside a room at the consulate where he was allowed shelter because of his health problem.

“Consulate staff noted the OFW was not going out of the room and checked him only to find out that he died,” the source said.

The OFW, who had worked in Jeddah for 10 years was undocumented since 2011. He asked friends for temporary shelter.

His name was withheld pending notification of his family.
