It is now moving west northwestward at 10 kilometers per hour, based on its 11:00 a.m. bulletin.

State weather bureau PAGASA says Tropical Depression Amang has weakened into a low pressure area at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday.

Tropical Depression Amang meanders over the Lagonoy Gulf near Catanduanes, according to PAGASA.

In its 8 a.m. bulletin Wednesday, the eye of Amang was found over the coastal waters of Virac, Catanduanes.

Moving almost stationary, it has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph.

Tropical Depression Amang maintains its strength and continues to move westward towards the northern coast of catanduanes, PAGASA says.

In its 5 p.m. weather bulletin, the center of the eye was estimated found 130 kilometers east northeast of Virac, Catanduanes or 250 km east of Daet, Camarines Norte.

Moving westward at 30 kilometers per hour, it has maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

Tropical Depression Amang accelerates as it moves westward towards the coast of Catanduanes, according to PAGASA.

The center of the eye was spotted 270 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes. Moving Westward at 30 kilometers per hour, it has maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

More areas in Luzon and Visayas were placed under Wind Signal No. 1.

PAGASA says the low pressure area east of Catanduanes developed into Tropical Depression Amang. 

The center of the eye was spotted 475 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes.

Moving west northwestward at 20 kilometers per hour, it has maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph.

Signal No. 1 was hoisted in the following areas:

Luzon

  • Catanduanes

Visayas

  • northern portion of Eastern Samar (Taft, Can-Avid, Sulat, Dolores, Oras, Arteche, San Policarpo, Jipapad, Maslog, San Julian) 
  • eastern portion of Northern Samar (Catubig, Lapinig, Gamay, Mapanas, Palapag, Laoang, San Roque, Pambujan, Mondragon)

"Amang" has weakened into a low pressure area, PAGASA says late Monday as it lifts all Tropical Cyclone Warning Signals.

It says, however, that light to moderate rains are still expected "over Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon and Northern Samar within the next 24 hours due to this weather disturbance, along with the tail-end of a cold front."

It adds heavy rain is still possible in those areas.

Tropical Depression "Amang" has changed course and is now heading towards the Leyte-Samar area, PAGASA says in a fresh Severe Weather Bulletin.

Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1 has been raised over the following areas:

  • Eastern Samar
  • Samar
  • Biliran
  • Leyte
  • Southern Leyte
  • Eastern Bohol
  • Northern Cebu
  • Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands

PAGASA said that as of 7 a.m., "Amang" was "in the vicinity of Guiuan, Eastern Samar."

The tropical depression has maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 60 kph.

"Amang" is moving northwest at 10 kph.

Tropical Depression Amang continues to move closer to the Surigao provinces.

At 4 p.m. today, it is located at 175 km southeast of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte. 

It is still expected to make landfall over Surigao del Norte mainland or Siargao Islands between this afternoon and evening.

"Amang" packs maximum winds of up to 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 60 kph. It moves west-northwest at 30 kph.

Signal No. 1 is up over Eastern Samar, Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte, eastern Bohol, northern Cebu, Agusan del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Dinagat Islands and Camiguin.

Tropical Depression Amang slightly accelerates as it moves closer to Caraga.

It is now moving west-northwest at 30 kph compared to earlier's 25 kph. It is still expected to make landfall over Surigao del Norte mainland-Siargao Islands between this afternoon and tonight, PAGASA says in its 11 a.m. severe weather bulletin.

Signal No. 1 is up over Eastern Samar, Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Eastern Bohol and Northern Cebu Agusan del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Dinagat Islands and Camiguin.

PAGASA says Tropical Depression Amang is heading towards Surigao del Norte where it is expected to make landfall between this afternoon and evening.

"Amang," the first tropical cyclone inside the Philippine area of responsibility in 2019, was located at 360 km east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur as of 7 a.m. today. It moves at a west-northwest direction at 25 kph.

The state weather bureau says in its 8 a.m. severe weather bulletin that moderate to heavy rains will prevail over Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Compostela Valley, Davao Oriental, Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Bicol Region, Southern Quezon, Marinduque and Romblon today.
