MANILA, Philippines - The world's most expensive wine costs more than four years worth of college education in the Philippines.

Topping winesearcher.com's annual list of world's most expensive wines is a 1985 bottle of Richebourg Grand Cru from Burgundy, which is priced at $15,195 or approximately P607,800.

According to the website, the wine was from the vineyard of Henri Jayer, who owns an estate comprising of some of the finest vineyards in Vosne- Romanée.

For context on how expensive this bottle of wine is: a 24-unit semester at the University of Santo Tomas, for instance, only costs around P32,000.

Henri Jayer's wine seized the top spot from the Domaine de la Romanee-Conti Romanee-Conti Grand Cru from Cote de Nuits, France, which now ranks at second.

At $8,832 per bottle, another Henri Jayer's wine is seated at the third spot, the Cros-Parantoux, Vosne-Romanee Premier Cru.

The list was based on data from nearly 55,000 price lists around the world, taking an average per bottle.

Last year, France has reclaimed its crown as world's biggest wine producer after a poor 2014 harvest saw Italy's wine production plunge 15 percent. Burgundy's vineyards was also crowned with the world heritage distinction by the United Nation’s cultural body in July.
