What’s on the Menu? Luk Yuen opens fifth branch

MANILA, Philippines - Luk Yuen opened its fifth outlet on the second level of Glorietta 2, Ayala Center, Makati City. The new branch has a high ceiling with a verdant wall depicting a wandering deer in a garden (Luk means “deer,” Yuen is “garden” in Cantonese). It has a seating capacity of 160 diners, including a cozy mezzanine and a sidewalk café-like nook. Diners with a minimum P500 single receipt, dine-in only, have until Dec. 12 to avail of the opening coupon offer of a free noodle soup or mixed congee.

Lettuce-wrapped burger at Brothers Burger

Brothers Burger offers its lettuce-wrapped burger. This new, delicious concoction wraps the signature 150-gram, flame-grilled Brothers Burger patty in lettuce. It’s also paired with fresh tomatoes and raw onions and done burrito-style. There’s also the Grilled Chicken Sandwich, which packs in two grilled chicken breast fillets, marinated, drizzled with cilantro cream, topped with lettuce and tomatoes, and served on a warm, toasted, oatmeal bun. The crispy fish sandwich includes a breaded fish fillet topped with dill mayo, served with farm-fresh lettuce and tomatoes on a perfectly toasted oatmeal bun. Also try the Green Delight Salad and Grilled Chicken Salad.

Kouign-amann ‘Ka’ by Cicou

Kouign-amann is a cake made with several layers of in-house-made bread dough, butter and sugar. It is slowly baked until the butter puffs up the dough and the sugar caramelizes.

Christmas set menu at Jade Garden

Jade Garden offers its Christmas set menu (P15,380+, good for 12 persons) prepared by executive chef Ho Chi Kwong. The menu includes a suckling pig combination with three assortments: fish lips with shredded chicken and dried scallops soup, baked prawns with superior sauce on e-fu noodles, stir-fried fresh scallops with broccoli, deep-fried lapu-lapu in Thai sauce, roasted garlic-flavored chicken, fried crabs with spring onions and ginger, soaked seasoned vegetables with Yunan ham in chicken broth, seafood fried rice and for dessert, chilled mango shake with sago.

Jade Garden is open for dinner on Christmas Day and lunch and dinner on New Year’s Day.

Marvelous Combo at Burgoo

Burgoo offers its “Burgoo Marvelous Combo.” For only P999, enjoy extra Supreme Nachos, Country-Style Fried Chicken with rice pilaf and potato wedges or any two side dishes of your choice, and Tomato-Basil Spaghetti with special garlic bread. Holiday feasts with Taggo

New Orleans Bourbon Street Ribs, Steaks and Oysters offers a collection of most-favorite grilled items from its Taste of Nawtins’ Smokin’ Barbecue Platter (P1,749), with smoked beef brisket, baby back ribs, and smoked chicken barbecue, blackened pork belly served with grilled corn on the cob and southern coleslaw with barbecue sauce.
