Blue for royalty: Pia Wurtzbach slays in Andrada gown
MANILA, Philippines - Pia Wurtzbach was a beauty to be reckoned with as she walked past the cheering audience during the 64th Miss Universe pageant.
Every outfit Wurtzbach wore at the pageant is perfection, including the royal blue gown that highlighted her elegance as she did her pasarela on the stage.
Made by Filipino designer Albert Andrada, the formfitting mermaid gown carries the theme "pearl of the orient." According to previous reports, the sequins and crystals embedded on the back of the royal blue gown represent the sun rising on the Philippine sea.
Two days before the finals night, Andrada posted a sneak peek of Wurtzbach's gown.
Miss Universe dubbed Pia as "a bombshell in blue" when it released a sketch of her gown.

Andrada also designed the capiz terno that Wurtzbach wore for the national costume segment of the pageant.
Andrada is not a foreign name in pageantry as he has designed dresses for beauty queens, including Bb. Pilipinas Universe Dang Cecilio-Palanca, Ching Cruz and Linda Ley. He also designed a gown for Paris Hitlon, which she wore to the Grammy Awards.
Andrada, who is the head designer of a royal family in United Arab Emirates, was named “Asia’s Most Connected Designer of the Year” at the Mercedes Benz Stylo Asia Fashion Week held October last year in Malaysia.
