Governor Lito dedicates film to good cops
November 7, 2000 | 12:00am
At a time when honesty, sincerity and dedication to sworn public duty seems a rarity among public servants and law enforcers, Pampanga Governor Lito Lapid reminds us about the existence of honest cops via Regal Films’ Huwag Mong Ubusin Ang Bait Ko.
Lito plays a dedicated, honest, tough cop who does not think twice about going after the bad eggs among law enforcers. In the process, he puts his life and family on the line.
"Contrary to what many people think, there are more good cops than corrupt ones," says Lito. "It just so happens that more attention is focused on the negative things. That’s our aim in the film: to make people realize that there are more cops worthy of respect and emulation."
Directed by Baldo Marro, Huwag Mong Ubusin Ang Bait Ko also stars Gardo Versoza as the cop-turned-crime syndicate kingpin; Maricar de Mesa as the pawn Gardo uses to lure Lito out for their final confrontation; Derek Dee as Lito’s partner cop and best friend; and the comebacking Jackie Forster as Lito’s loving and faithful wife who stands by her man, despite the seeming dangerous odds.
Newcomer Maricar de Mesa’s fledgling career gets another major boost after hitting the jackpot in the recently shown Katayan in this movie.
Huwag Mong Ubusin Ang Bait Ko opens Nov. 8 in Metro Manila theaters.
