Yes, John Lloyd is 'The Most Beautiful Star' of 2011
Blushing a bit and visibly incredulous even if his “beautiful” face is smiling at him from the cover of YES! magazine’s latest issue declaring him No. 1 among the “100 Most Beautiful Stars of 2011,” John Lloyd Cruz admitted during the presscon the other day at Crowne Plaza Hotel that he felt “awkward” about the honor even as he conceded that he’s “thankful” for it.
“Sabi ko nga,” John Lloyd told the press, “it’s really awkward to be here, and to be No. 1 medyo inappropriate pero kapag sinabing napaka-credible ng team behind YES!, kailangan mong irespeto,” adding in jest, “’yung katawan ni Piolo (Pascual) maganda sa girls lang ‘yon pero ‘yung katawan ko masarap yakapin.”
You’re tempted to say, “Ask John Lloyd’s immediate ex-girlfriend Ruffa Gutierrez and his current girlfriend Shaina Magdayao,” but it would be, to borrow John Lloyd’s word, “inappropriate” to do that while he’s basking in that singular glory.
John Lloyd’s selection came on the heels of his inclusion among the 20 Top Endorsers also by YES!, with Kris Aquino, touted as The Queen of All Media, retaining the No. 1 spot.
Anyway, if you haven’t gotten your copy of YES! yet, here’s the complete “Most Beautiful” honor roll:

Like Nora, John is also arriving
If Nora Aunor comes, can her good friend John Rendez be far behind?
If there’d be no last-minute changes, Nora, as Funfare recently reported (and as confirmed by German “Kuya Germs” Moreno, a never-say-die Nora supporter and believer), Nora is arriving on Philippine Airlines PR103 flight from Los Angeles at 6:30 Tuesday morning, Aug. 2, purposely to do a series (drama, presumably) for TV5 which is set for a month-long airing.
Already, TV5 is preparing a presscon for Nora and a Nora Aunor Fans Day, never mind if there are Doubting Thomases that Nora will really come. The last time, I won a bet of P1,000 when Nora didn’t arrive last week as had been widely reported, although she was listed among the Business Class passengers on PR103. As usual, she changed her mind at the 25th hour. Will she still change her mind this time? Will I win another bet?
The coast is clear. A “legal mind” has given Nora the go-signal, assuring her that she wouldn’t be having any problem (let’s hope not!) with the US Immigration because of her previous drug case.
Now, to the opening question: Will John Rendez arrive with Nora? No, he will not, but he’s scheduled to fly in three days later, according to a Funfare informer. I admire John for being, like Kuya Germs, a devoted friend and adviser to Nora and who, again like Kuya Germs, has stuck to Nora through thick and thin, come hell or high water, through her ups and downs. Again like Kuya Germs, John is the wind beneath Nora’s wings, her security blanket, so it’s just right for him to be by her side at all times.
By the way, it’s not confirmed if while here Nora would also do the movie El Presidente with Laguna Gov. ER Ejercito (playing the title role as Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo).
On thing is sure: While she’s here, Nora will have a carload of issues to sort out if, and that’s the Big If, she will talk.
