Mocha Girls in Guam

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Mocha Girls Hershey Delas Alas, Bez Lacanlale, Grace Oracion, and Heart de Guzman with lead singer Mocha Uson are on their month-long series of performances in Guam.

The group was supposed to return  after its series of Valentine shows, but had to extend its performances until March 20 due to more invitations. It is the third time for the group to perform abroad with Mocha’s Ice Band.

The entourage included producers Jemuel and Joan Luciano, Mark Anthony Uno, Manuel Cruz, Karlo Peligrino, Erik Glizerine and former drummer and musical director, now manager of Mocha Girls, Lord Byron Cristobal.

In terms of professional dancing and singing, the sing-and-dance quintet is way above other Filipino girlie groups who have performed in Guam, some of whom were even sent to the slammer for violating labor laws of the host country.

Locally, the Mocha Girls have established a reputation as no-nonsense total performing artists, gaining a following from those who patronize real talent more than sexy bodies.  Before their departure, they performed for La Salle, Greenhills’ 50th anniversary.

The group won the recent PMPC Music Awards for Best Dance Album. When they return, Mocha Girls will perform at the Movie Writers Got Talent (On The Loose!) show on March 18 at Zirkoh, Morato, Quezon City.
