Juancho and Amalia in 2 Sampaguita films

Juancho Gutierrez and Amalia Fuentes were the winners of Sampaguita Pictures’ contest in 1956, the search for Mr. & Miss Number One. Juancho was a product of Colegio de San Juan de Letran, while Amalia also studied in Catholic schools, Santa Isabel and St. Scholastica.

They were initially paired as a loveteam by Sampaguita, cast in Pakiusap (1959) and Ang Senyorito at Ang Atsay (1963). In real life, Juancho ended up with Gloria Romero and Amalia with Romeo Vasquez.

Juancho later joined government service (Bureau of Customs), while Amalia put up her own movie company, AM (Amalia Muhlach) Productions.

Amalia is a member of the MTRCB (Movie and Television Review and Classification Board). Juancho died a few years back. — RKC
