Two of MCA Music’s homebred talents bagged major awards as Best Performance by a New Male Recording Artist, Best New Performance by a New Female Recording Artist and Best Performance by a Female Recording Artist at the 21st Awit Awards held at Eastwood City.

A week after being named Aliw’s Best Male Performer in Hotels, Music Lounges and Bars, Richard Poon’s winning streak continued as he clinched the title of Best Performance by a New Male Recording Artist in the 2008 Awit Awards. He was also nominated in the category Best Performance by a Male Recording Artist, alongside Gary Valenciano, Jose Mari Chan and Martin Nievera.

Poon’s album I’ll Take Care of You Platinum Edition under MCA Music also turned gold just after a few months from its market release. After delivering a stellar performance of the song Tulak ng Bibig which she composed herself, Julianne lived up to her album’s title of being Grateful as she bagged the award for Best Performance by a New Female Recording Artist. She also received the award Best Performance by a Female Recording Artist for her song Tulak ng Bibig beating other big names in the industry such as Lea Salonga, Sarah Geronimo and Kyla.

Julianne was also nominated in major categories such as Song of the Year, Best World/Alternative/Bossa Music and Best Jazz Recording among others.
