Sec. Berna to appear in Darna

MANILA, Philippines — Tourism Sec. Bernadette Romulo-Puyat will make it on big screen as she is set to appear on Erik Matti’s film Darna led by Kapamilya star Liza Soberano.

Puyat said that the idea came after they had an exchange of words with Matti on his Instagram account when he posted his sister’s name Lupe on the end credits of his BuyBust movie.

Matti paid tribute to seven persons who passed away while filming the BuyBust including Lupe, who is also the sister of Erwin, the film’s music director.

He said that he missed Lupe, who suffered a heart attack, then aneurysm and stroke before she died. “I miss smoking a cigarette with her. And she had the most infectious laughter. She even asked to be casted as an extra in Darna,” Matti said.

In response to Matti’s post, Puyat thanked him for adding her sister’s name, making her emotional as she expressed her intent to become an extra in Darna in lieu of her sister.

“Ako na lang mag-e-extra sa Darna,” she said, to which Matti replied, “Game.”  

“No more turning back direk Erik Matti. Pwedeng sidekick na lang ako ni Ding?” Puyat said on her Instagram account.

She then said that she is only waiting for the shooting schedule.

It is not yet clear what role will be given to Puyat, but some commenters said that they want her as aunt or a mother of Soberano’s character.
