MMFF reveals 2017 box office sales, ranking
MANILA, Philippines — Vice Ganda regained his throne as the biggest star of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) when his movie “Gandarrapido: The Revenger Squad” topped the annual film festival’s 43rd edition. The Star Cinema movie also won the People’s Choice award at the MMFF 2017 awards night.
Vice Ganda’s movie with Coco Martin, “The Beauty and the Bestie,” scored the highest box office gross sales in the MMFF 2015.
“Ang Panday,” Coco’s first film as producer-director, came in second.
Director Paul Soriano’s “Siargao,” which won the most number of trophies at the MMFF awards night, placed third, while Regal Entertainment’s “Haunted Forest” landed in the top four.
The recently concluded MMFF’s earnings surpassed the P1-B mark, with the numbers expected to rise after the entries’ extended run and screenings abroad.
The figures are a big improvement over MMFF 2016’s P373.3 million earnings.
Here is what each of the eight official entries has earned at the end of the MMFF two-week run (Dec. 25, 2017 to Jan. 7, 2018).
