MANILA, Philippines – A 9-year-old Filipina is soon to bring honor in our country as she performs in the Asian production of "Les Misérables."

Esang de Torres, one of the finalists in “The Voice Kids” season two under coach Lea Salonga is flying to Singapore on May 27, to continue her role as young Cosette for the Asian tour of "Les Misérables."

She first portrayed this role in the later performances here in Manila, which includes Kapuso singer-actress Rachelle Ann Go.

“Masaya po ako na gumanap na little Cosette sa 'Les Misérables' at nagpapasalamat po ako kay Lord kasi po dahil po sa kanya maryo’n akong talent,” she replied when asked how she felt being part of the show, in a recent interview.

The young singer is also enjoying spending time with foreign artists, even if “nano-nosebleed na nga po ako, e, kasi nag-e-English sila,” she joked.

Of course, she felt greater joy for flying to a different country to perform with the team.

Her coach Lea Salonga is still ecstatic about the accomplishment of her young discovery.

“You have no idea how proud I am of that child,” she said about Esang, whom she mentored before she auditioned for the musical.

Lea also starred in a "Les Misérables" production before, where she portrayed the role of Eponine.

“I’m still flabbergasted,” she added. “The production team said she’s wonderful. I’m just like, ‘you don’t have an idea on how proud I am of that kid.’”

The next season of “The Voice Kids” will air starting this Saturday, May 28.
