MANILA, Philippines – The two new candidates of Bb. Pilipinas 2016 are present at the pageant’s second charity work.

Geisha Naganuma and Gail Ventic joined the other girls in interacting with the cancer patients at the Philippine Children’s Medical Center in Quezon City on Friday.

In a short interview with the candidates, both of them had mixed emotions for replacing two disqualified candidates from the pageant.

Naganuma replaces Janelle Olafson, while Ventic takes the spot of Kim Ross Delos Santos.

“Siyempre po I’m sad kasi friend ko rin po siya, nakausap ko rin po siya,,” said Ventic, who like Delos Santos is a talent by Jonas Gaffud. “At the same time po I’m happy kasi I’m given a chance to join the pageant.”

Naganuma said she’s “really happy” to be given another chance in the competition but also sad because “as a model hindi ko expected na gano’n ang mangyayari [kay Janelle].”

Just like every candidate this year, Ventic feels pressured with Pia Wurtzbach’s recent win of the Miss Universe competition.

“As in super extra training po kaming lahat,” she revealed. “Siyempre si Pia Wurtzbach sinet [set] niya talaga ‘yong standards sobrang taas. So kailangan talaga as next binibinis that will compete po in an international pageant, we have to step it up higher.”

Naganuma, on the other hand, draws inspiration from Wurtzbach’s win.

“It’s an inspiration as a Filipina kasi we are strong Filipina and I know that if ever man na we win again Miss Universe, let’s give it a back to back,” she said.

The forty aspiring beauty queens will compete for the crowns on April 17 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
