Barbie Forteza bags best actress award at international film fest

MANILA, Philippines - Kapuso actress Barbie Forteza was recently awarded Best Actress at the 36th Fantasporto International Film Festival in Oporto, Portugal for the indie film "Laut."

In the film, Forteza portrayed the role of Nadia, a Badjao wife coping with the cruel realities of life. "Laut" was also chosen as the opening film at  the Singkwento International Film Festival held on February 19 at the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NNCA) in Intramuros, Manila.

The news was shared by the film's director Louie Ignacio, who attended the awarding ceremony on Sunday. 

"Congratulations @barbaraforteza for winning Best Actress for LAUT- 36th Fantasporto International film Festival , Oporto, Portugal!!!! Soooo proud of you Barbie!!!!!! International Best actress ka na!!!!! Love you!!!," Ignacio said on his Instagram post.

Forteza, meanwhile, left a comment on the photo,saying "Di po ako makapaniwala!," to which the director responded "Di ako nagkamali sa first choice ko !!:) @barbaraforteza sobrang laki ng tiwala ko sayo! Sooo proud of you!!!! And from the whole LAUT Team Congratulations!!!!"

This is the third acting recognition for the 18-year old actress.
